Monthly Favorites – Best Loved in March

Spring is in the air! Finally. My make up and skincare is becoming more distinctly springy, gone are the dark, warm colors and in come the cooler pastels, neutrals and grays! Loving it.

I skipped February faves mostly because I got overwhelmed by a lot of work and school commitments so apologies for that, so here are my March monthly favorites (even though it is the middle of April already).

Pastel Nail Polish

Now if you know me in person then you know I have a distinct dislike for pastels. Washed out colors just don’t do it for me. But there is something about pastel nail polishes that is really cool. They are fresh and pretty and so different than what I wore in the autumn and winter 🙂 As I rarely write about nail polish here is a chance for me to share what I am loving:

Barry M Speedy Nail Paint

This I like more for the color selection than the quality, the formula is quite thick, so you have to be quick with it otherwise it streaks. Favorite colors are gray and lilac.

Max Factor

Was totally surprised by this one, I got it in a little gift box, I don’think I would ever have bought a Max Factor nail polish, let alone one in this pastely pinky color. But it is super easy to apply, wears reasonably well and the color is pretty! Very springy.

Essie

Yeah I know and Essie nail polish, how surprising. Well to be perfectly honest I am not the biggest fan. I don’t know if it is me or my nails but these nail polishes no matter how much more expensive they are do not wear any better on my nails than some other cheaper brands. But I do love this pastel blue with a hint of glitter!

Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate

I think I have mentioned before that I am on a constant search for a good eye-cream. I think I went though four or five different ones in the past year without ever repurchasing one. I finally think I may have found something I actually like. It is a serum that his rich enough to be worn on its own, but not too rich to be used as a serum with a cream over the top.

Max Factor Masterpiece Transform Mascara

I used to be totally in love with the 2000 Calorie mascara ages ago, but then I went off Max Factor mascaras for the longest time. Now I am back to my love with the Masterpiece Transform. The brush is unusually shaped, a bit gimmicky, and it is a silicone brush, BUT it works really well making lashes long and voluminous at the same time. The formula is not too wet, so it holds curl well. It doesn’t clump and it doesn’t smudge, and it is easy to take off in the evening. Ticks all the boxes for me!

OPI Glass Crystal Nail File

I have been using crystal nail files for a while, they are much finer than regular nail files, they seal the edge of your nail quite nicely, they are washable and last for a long time. If you have brittle nails I highly recommend them! This one is gentler on the nails than any other type of nail file I have tried so if you are looking to make the switch I recommend it highly.

Maybeline Fit Me Concealer

I think that in my 2014 Favorites video I complained that I can not find a good drugstore concealer. Well, I have found one. This is a really good all concealer that you can use for dark circles and blemishes. I has a nice consistency and gives good coverage without being too heavy. It doesn’t dry out and become patchy, although it will, like almost any other concealer, settle into fine lines. It doesn’t last all day on me like some of my higher end ones do, but that could be due to my oilier skin. If you are looking for a really good drugstore concealer though, look no further!

Lip Glam

Lip Glam is a 100% lanolin lip balm. My lips are so sensitive to all kinds of ingredients that I had basically given up on ever finding a balm that work for me. Beeswax, Shea Butter, Glycerin – none of these work for me and drive me crazy when I put them on my lips (with the possible exception of the Welleda lip balm that I wrote about previously). This lanolin stuff is amazing. It conditions lips because lanolin is really good at absorbing moisture, it keeps lips hydrated and plump. For me probably the best feature is that it makes a great base for applying lipstick.
