Best Places to Buy Makeup Online

Thursday, October 2, 2014 2 Permalink 2

I am not a huge online shopper. I rarely buy clothes because I always just want to try stuff first, how very old-fashioned of me. But the one thing that I do buy online regularly is makeup and beauty products. I love browsing around different websites, finding deals, comparing prices, seeing what extra goodies they offer.

There are still things that I will try first before I buy, e.g. new eyeshadow colors, but online is where I buy more than half of my makeup and beauty.

Now, I am going to put a disclaimer here. I have shopped from all of these websites and not had any major issues other than waiting form my delivery, but rarely longer than their upper estimate. I have not had to contact customer service at any point. The trust ratings for these websites vary, check them on trustpilot.co.uk.

You shop at your own risk, I am in no way associated with any of these websites.

My favorite websites to buy makeup (that is in addition to the usual suspects like Amazon where you’d be surprised what you can find or Sephora.fr that ships from France, so no customs for European customers):

Cultbeauty.com

This website is filled with cult makeup and beauty products picked by Cult’s editors and celebrities. Sometimes they choose just one or a few products from a brand and sometimes they carry the full line. Most likely than not these will not be you run of the mill brands but more exclusive, mid to high end, smaller brands. Yes this also usually means that they are the expensive ones. Here you can buy Sunday Riley, EmmaHardie, Eccentric Molecules, Omorovicza, Alpha H and other very cult brands and products.

They offer free worldwide shipping on orders over 50 GBP, which is not hard to achieve considering the products and prices, and you get two or three luxury samples with every order.

They frequently do promo activities, on my last order I got a free goody bag of full size products worth 90 pounds.

My top picks:
Alpha H  Liquid Gold, Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm, Eve Lom TLC Cream.

Douglas.nl

This is my top pick for those living in the Netherlands or Belgium. While the offer of brands is a bit more “mainstream” they do offer a really good range of products, you can even order Mac from them, and it is the only site that stocks Estee Lauder which is a big + for me.

The shipping is free and very fast. I ordered on Friday and had my goodies with me on Saturday morning!

My top picks:
The whole Estee Lauder range is available here, particularly the Double Wear Light Foundation which is my go to every day foundation and my recent find the Advanced Night Repair Serum.

Feelunique.com

A broad selection of brands and full collections, from Clinique to Benefit, from Real Techniques to This Works feelunique.com is a good place to go. Feelunique carries most high street and high end brands. Most notably missing in my opinion is Estee Lauder.

They offer free world wide shipping for orders over 15 euros. There is a big list of offers on select products and there are many promotions they do. For Dutch customers they offer the option to pay with iDeal which I find great! Standard delivery is longish, 7-14 days, but hey it’s free!

My top picks:
Ellie Macintosh lashes, Urban Decay full range of palettes but particularly the Naked Basics original palette, Real Techniques brushes (try Nic’s or Sam’s Pick for all you need).

Makeupgeek.com

I wrote a whole post about how much I love these eyeshadows, so if you are looking for great quality, great prices and a website that is good enough to buy eyeshadows from without having to swatch them, head over to their website.

If you don’t live in the US shipping is not free, and because they ship from the US you will have to pay customs and tax, but as I calculated for my post a while, they are still great price when compared to Mac or Urban Decay singles and the quality of these babies is so well worth the wait!

My top picks:
Eyeshadows in Vanilla Bean, Creme Brulee, Prom Night and Cocoa Bear. On and while you are at it buy a Z-palette.

Asos.com

My favorite fashion destination if I am buying online is also great for beauty products. The range of brands is not huge, they carry most of the drugstore brands like Bourjois and Maybelline, but that is not what I go for here. Check out Nars if you can’t find it in your country, the Balm, Stila, Illamasqua and Eyko (although that you are better off just getting from their site).

Free delivery worldwide, this has got to be the most hassle free shopping experience online. Never any problems, and always super happy.

My top picks:
Daniel Sandler Watercolor Fluid blusher, better yet and ASOS exclusive blush + lipstick, the Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer Shadow and Contour powder.

Beautybay.com

Usually if I can’t find it anywhere else I can find it here. In addition all the “regular” beauty brands they also stock some of the more difficult to find ones and I guess the main benefit is that they ship free worldwide. The down side is that sometimes products can take a while to arrive. But hey if you are looking for that Cargo or Face Stockholm product you’ll wait for it.
Free delivery worldwide, and often times sales and discounts.

My top picks:
Cargo blush in Catalina, Face Stockholm Lipsticks.
