Body Shop – Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask Review

I am really skeptical when it comes to gimmicky sounding products. I really don’t like products that promise to solve problems in some radical way because most likely those problems are not problems at all. For example: Yes we need a long lasting eyeliner, but who needs one that lasts 24 hours?

That is why I was highly skeptical when I saw the new(ish) Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask. It’s supposed to make your skin bouncy. Bouncy mask for bouncy skin? Now is that really my biggest skin issue? When I looked at it in the store the texture was also very gimmicky which I also found a bit off putting. I don’t know how to explain it in writing, but it’s a bit like memory foam when you press it, but when you scoop it out it actually spreads and has gel like in texture. And lastly it’s made with Edelweiss stem cells? Really?! “Is it cells from the stem?” my cynical brain asked? Well no, it’s actual plant stem cells (which are different than human stem cells before you go all ballistic on me) and Edelweiss is apparently quite full of stem cell goodness.

Even tough I was highly skeptical, I succumbed for three reasons. First off the mask was praised by Fleur de Force, a YouTuber I follow (word of mouth, people!). Second it was as if lazy old me and this sleeping mask were a match made in heaven. Who has time to sit around with a mask on their face when you can slap it on and sleep with it? Third, it’s not exorbitantly expensive.

A bit like memory foam when you press it, gel-like when you spread it.

Verdict? I do love it, and yes I do get bouncy skin (:

Well, more like plumper and well hydrated skin. This product was a lifesaver for me because I really never can find the time to put on a mask (other than Sundays, but then for some reason I like to use cleansing mud masks). I use this every other night and I totally love it. It’s not oily, although if you do put on too much it can be a bit sticky to the touch. You really need the smallest amount, which is great because the jar will last for a good while. In the morning I just wash it off with lukewarm water and enjoy glowy and hydrated, bouncy skin. If you are on the lookout for a mask that is good at hydrating and nourishing the skin AND is super practical at the same time then I cannot recommend this enough.
